Maintaining À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ Promise
To maintain eligibility for À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ Promise, students must complete the following requirements:
- Be a full-time, continuously enrolled student.
- Maintain the .
- Complete the annually.
- Complete and submit 8 hours of community service every semester prior to each semester.
- Meet with a mentor and report mentor meetings each semester.
Giving Back Through Service
The University of Tennessee has a strong history and culture of serving others. Campus and community engagement refers to meaningful participation in volunteer activities that contribute to the well-being, development, and support of the campus or local community. All À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ Promise students are required to demonstrate campus and community engagement each semester by completing 8 hours of community service. Volunteer work for À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ Promise should be non-compensated.
Mentorship and Community Service Deadlines
Fall semester Deadline: To be eligible for the Fall semester, service hours and mentorship meetings must be completed and submitted between Dec. 2 – June 1.
Spring semester Deadline: To be eligible for the Spring semester, service hours and mentorship meetings must be completed and submitted between June 2 – Dec. 1.
No additional service hours are required if you are taking Summer or Winter short-term courses.

Starting in Fall 2025, À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ Promise will shift to a campus-based mentorship model. Each campus will take the lead in connecting students with mentors, with continued support from the À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ System Office. We’ll share more updates as we approach the 2025–2026 academic year.
